HELLO 👋

I'm Tri. With over 12 years of experience in UX design, including 7 years leading UX design at Google, I specialize in multi-modal conversational experiences for mobile, wearables, smart displays, and Android Auto.

Assistant Immersive UIs on Android Auto

I designed new interactions for using Assistant to communicate with others while driving.

This helped provide greater efficiency through multi-modal support, a modular UI component system for Auto Projected & Embedded, and a predictable UX for drivers.

Comms Assistant on Google Pixel Watch

Launched Comms Assistant features on the first Google Pixel Watch. I was responsible for outlining key flows, and helped lead several designers on this launch.

This was a multi-year effort from concept, detailed design, and design quality testing – I iterated on calling, messaging, and safety Assistant CUJs for Google Pixel watch.

Google Security Advisor

I led the redesign of Google’s Security Checkup in 2017 to make Google much more opinionated about how users address security vulnerabilities. The new security tool offered personalized, actionable security advice about their Google Account. Currently gets 2 million+ Daily Active Users (DAU).

Assistant for Work

I created a vision for an Assistant-powered Smart Agenda. With a goal to begin to summary and tell you what’s most important. Whether it being focused to what you need to do next, or surfacing relevant actions or things you can do to make your workday better, including schedule time with colleagues.

Calendar and Communication on Nest Hub Smart Displays

I lead interaction design from concept, execution, and continued vision in various evolutions of Nest Hub Max Smart Display features including Calendar, Scheduling, Video Calling with Meet and Zoom, HouseHold Contracts, and Broadcast. Developing new glanceable and proactive design patterns.

Google Sign-in & Security UX Design Framework

I was leading the Authentication & Sign-in Experiences. Created Google Account creation UI patterns and user flows, Device-to-device approval, Authenticator, BioMetrics, Security Keys.

I also led the ux design for the ‘Android phone as a built-in security key 2-step verification user launched @ Google Cloud Next'19 enabling WebAuthN and FIDO2.

I’ve been known to bring clarity to complexity through visual expression.

With an MFA in Design from Academy of Art University and 12+ spent years honing my design craft and leadership skills, I have guided teams in several large companies like Google, Intuit, Autodesk, eBay to craft new experiences through developing ux-focused product narratives, and storytelling visualizing critical user journeys.

Tools of Choice

Design in Figma.

Prototype in Principle.

Superpowers

Interaction Design

I’ve re-imagine several existing experiences and created net new interactions on various products over the years, incl. mobile, auto, watch, smart displays. Each time, I’ve set the direction on design frameworks and key user flows.

Design Patterns

Known for evolving existing large design systems, I’ve identified inconsistencies across design systems and proposed more coherent visual system using CUJs.

Concept Prototyping

I communicate complex interaction using storyboards and user vignettes to highlight new features and capabilities. I prototype and animate them to further illustrate the user experience.

About me.

I love designing new technology and its intersection with complex, emotional humans.

For the past few years, I’ve been at Google focusing on design for cross-Google Authentication & Security, AI Intelligence and a Conversational Assistant. Prior to that, I designed navigating 3D models at Autodesk, simplifying small business workflows across services at Intuit / QuickBooks, and helped grow Facebook’s portfolio of hardware devices by communicating strategy for bridging users understanding of Portal, VR, & AR.

I thrive when recognizing new opportunities, framing problems and communicating high quality design principles and patterns that generate momentum towards new paradigms.
